The investigation into 'When can we expect a new birmingham.gov website?' yielded some real results this week when it emerged Birmingham City Council had spent £2.2m over the original estimate of £580,000.
The information was revealed in a response to a Freedom of Information (FOI) request made by Heather Brooke as part of the investigation, which was started by Josh Hart (read his round up of the earlier stages of the investigation here).
Both the Birmingham Post and Birmingham Mail picked up on the response, with a story on page 3 of the Mail that day (Post coverage here; Mail coverage here), although they don't appear to have gathered any extra information apart from a possible reaction from the Taxpayers Alliance.
The investigation continues, however, with particular interest in what features the website will include for £2.8m - accessibility seems a real issue, for instance.
